Sometimes I feel compelled to write things to various members of our state legislature. Sometimes I get responses, often times I do not.

The Assembly’s Ways and Means Committee had a hearing yesterday. I was not able to attend that meeting due to work, but I emailed the following letter to all the members of that committee. Here it is, for your reading enjoyment/amusement/criticism/whatever. Feel free to comment below!

As always, thanks for reading my blog…I hope all of you are enjoying a Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday season!
Thanks Mason. Your letter probably fell on blind eyes but doing the right thing is always the right thing. Thanks again
Thank you, Mason, for serving and for taking a stance against this foolish legislation. Our State leaders like to send local governing units plenty of unfunded mandates, limit our spending below inflationary levels, and offer us “tools” to operate and provide essential services … but then they want to look good to the public by going to the polls to see if we can use the few tools left in the tool box.
Representative government in the US and WI has deteriorated greatly and needs all of our citizens to help reform it. If only our Legislators would work with their constituents to develop real solutions to our many real problems, rather than catering to large donors, pushing through unread canned legislation with little public input, in the middle of the night, and twisting district boundaries to secure their re-election.
Thanks Rodger. You are correct, and it doesn’t have to be this way. The state and local governments can indeed work together, but it’s a two way street. We need more real listening, and less mandating.
